Description

A simply stunning 6 day trip in the Atlas mountains to conquer Mt Toubkal, northern Africa's highest peak at 4176m, including a full days sightseeing and excursion in Marrakesh.  We take care of everything for you, food, water, accommodation, transport and as with all of our overseas trips, the tips for our incountry team.  That's right, the tips are included as well.

And if you want to extend your stay and add another excursion, say a 2 day Berber desert sunset camp, we have it covered.

Day 1:

Pick up from Marrakech Airport and transfer straight to Imlil. This drive takes about 1 1/2 hours.  We overnight at Imlil Lodge or similar.

Day 2:

After breakfast, we start our trek heading along the Mizane Valley. Passing the village of Aremd, we head across the flood plains and up into the high rocky cliffs towards the Shrine of Sidi Chamarouch.  From here, we head up yo the refuge where we spend the night.  In summer we camp in tents and in winter we stay at the refuge.

Day 3:

An early start as we make our attempt on the summit of Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in Northern Africa. Our route takes us up the south cirque, crossing the stream above the refuge.  The walking is relatively straightforward and we will take it easy as we cross the scree slopes and on to the summit.  The views from the top are breathtaking, weather permitting of course. From the Marrakesh Plains to the High Atlas in the North, and as far south as the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara, the scenery is amazing.

We then head back down to the refuge where we will spend another night.

Day 4:

Today, we head back towards Imlil and transfer to Marrakesh where we spend the night at a riad in the medina of Marrakech.

Day 5:

Today is a day of sightseeing.  We will be doing an excursion, maybe a camel ride in the desert and spending time at the souks. The famous markets.  Remember, it's all about the bartering here.  If you're very good at it, you can buy our shopping as well!

Day 6:

Transfer to airport and departure.
